We have a new addition to our family (zoo)! Her name is Gidget and she is a sweet black lab pup. Someone sent out a MySpace bulletin about some free puppies and I immediately had to have one! After a long hour of negotiating with David, we decided to go get us a puppy! She is very calm and sweet and seems to be very smart! She met the other members of the family, Gizmo & Lucy (our 2 ferrets!) last night and seemed to like them a little more than they like her. Actually the ferrets don’t even really acknowledge that she’s there. They are not scared, they don’t run away, they just keep doing their own thing! Gidget is enthralled with them though, and likes to try to bite their tails! I am a little nervous about her playing with them, but everyone I talk to says that they will be fine, and that she needs to play with them now so that she knows that they are part of the family too.
Gidget is kind of a whiny baby so far, but she is only about 5 weeks old. I feel like a mother with a newborn baby waking up at all hours of the night! David has to remind me not to spoil or “ruin” her by picking her up every time she cries. She LOVES to be held and cuddled. I have a feeling that it’s going to be hard training her, not because she’s stupid, but because I just want to treat her like my little baby!
